Charivari Day - Folkestone. This year's parade has the theme of World Carnival and will draw inspiration from the vibrant carnivals that take place across the globe.
Primary school teachers will be joining in the fun as well, as they attended a special teachers' Masterclass at the Strange Cargo workshop in Cheriton to learn the techniques for making the mass costumes of the primary school children.
Come along to public workshops where anyone is welcome to come along, make a costume and join in the day's fun. Due to the terrible weather, these will now take place on 7 & 8 July from 11am - 4pm, and then on 10 & 11 July from 3pm - 7pm at the Coastal Park in Folkestone. A donation of £2 would be appreciated towards materials. Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult; large groups please book in advance.
This year, as a special addition, there will be an opportunity to hear music from four local bands, one of who will win the opportunity to go to Boulogne in October to perform in the fantastic national music festival, Poulpephone.
This year's Charivari Day will take place on Saturday 14th July, beginning from outside the Civic Centre at 2pm. For further information please visit Strange Cargo’s website www.strangecargo.org.uk or call 01303 244533. Tuesday 14th July 2009
Classic Car Rally, Rare Breeds Centre, Woodchurch.

Among the exhibitors on the day were Hazzard VW Club, Independent Classic Vehicle Club, MK1 Cortina Owners Club, Folkestone Automobile Club, Rover Owners Club, Kent Capri Club and Bexhill 100 Club joined by a selection of Autojumbles and Craft Stalls.
Also last year there was a short break in the day's event when the Piggy Grand National took place, with a slow start from the highly trained racing pigs, after an initial 'lay down and sunbathe the pigs soon built up to their usual pace and had the spectators cheering on their favourite porkers. The European and since 2005 the
World Body Painting Association was founded in Austria on the 12. October 2001.
The formation of the association was initiated by Alex Barendregt, who is also the creator of the "European and then the World Bodypainting Festival®" , which has become a major yearly event at Lake Millstätter See.
The art of bodypainting is exploding all around the globe.
An art form where ballet meets Monet.
Where drama meets Dali.
Bodypainting is a modern art form springing from ancient roots that brings together painters, performers, photographers and creative people from every walk of life.
The World Bodypainting Festival, 13 - 19 July, is the meeting place for the bodypainting world. For more than a decade now artists from up to 40 nations have travelled to the small town of Seeboden in the South of Austria in the middle of July to be a part of this event.
The festival builds up over a week with three final main days, 17 - 19 July, hosting the World Championships as well as semi professional categories. Artists paint directly on the festival site where their living artworks are then presented on stage with spectacular shows, sometimes including the most amazing special effects. This is an outdoor event set on the romantic shores of the Lake Millstattersee with alpine mountains and the warmth of summer turning this little picturesque village into a pumping arts centre.
Around 25.000 visitors enter the festival grounds and enjoy the atmosphere of live music, international show acts, multicultural cuisine and living art.
The audience can view the bodyart, music and shows live and broadcasted over the festival TV streaming the whole day from the festival grounds. Also available onsite is a shopping area where visitors and artists can buy anything related to Bodypainting and make-up art from all of the major companies in the Bodypainting industry as well as some interesting new growing companies. Halloween Fun & Fear at the Rare Breeds Centre, Woodchurch, Kent
If you're looking for an unforgettable day out over the October Half Term then The Rare Breeds Centre's Fun and Fear event is the place to be.
From 10.30 - 4pm, families with younger children can enjoy the more-gentle day-time Halloween fun including a Halloween Pantomime, The Devil's Pig Race, The Boo Tunnel, Hansel and Gretel's Cottage plus all the normal fun of the Farm. There's even a Halloween Fancy Dress competition with great prizes so be sure the children dress up.
Halloween at the Rare Breeds Centre is now established as one of the best events in the South East, there is nothing quite like it. This year we put far more light hearted fun into the day time activities to ensure people with younger children can enjoy the event as much as the brave souls who take on the night time terrors!'
As darkness falls from 6pm - 10 pm, the bigger braver people can enjoy The Terror Trailer Rides, terrifying walks through the Forbidden Forest, The Boo Tunnel, a more scary pantomime, Zombie Attacks, The Clown's Revenge and soup with the Wild Witches! There's a BBQ and refreshments - dress for the weather and bring a torch - it's dark out there!!!
