BIOGRAPHY

Born in Malta, but a life long resident of Folkestone, I have always been interested in the local community and the arts.

I ran a community based youth club at The Metropole Arts Centre for 7-11 year olds, which held various arts workshops such as card making, kite flying, video & music production and produced its own newsletter, Eye to Eye, written and produced by youth club members.

In 1985 I attended Medway College of Art & Design (now KIAD) and studied for a Higher Diploma in Advertising and Editorial Photography. This led to a spell as a self employed photographer, working mainly on promotional material for local bands, weddings and portraiture.

Working variously as a French Polisher, courier for the Venice-Simplon-Orient-Express and cross-channel courier for Sealink Ferries, I eventually had a daughter, Freya, in 1988 and worked as a photo processor until becoming self employed in 1997 as a community artist with local companies such as Strange Cargo, Whole Hog, WCCP and Folkestone, Dover, Deal & Ashford Councils. I then attended London North-West College in Willesden and studied Bodywork and Motorcycle tank Painting on a 12 week course. A 2 year spell as a fire eater followed, working at local nightclubs, festivals, parties and rallies and promoting local businesses. I first became interested in Facepainting when my son Fergus was born in 1992, experimenting with different techniques and products and joined FACE in 2001. I fine tuned my skills at Folkestone SKCT and was awarded the Student of the year (Wellbeing Division) in 2000.

I have a keen interest in local and environmental issues and am a member of Greenpeace, Friends of the Earth and KARE.

I currently divide my time between raising my 2 children, facepainting and Community Arts, riding my 1966 BSA C15 motorcycle and being an Art Workshop assistant at Wood Avenue Library, Folkestone.
